About the Mission
Warming Neighbors was created from a simple realization: no one should face a difficult season alone.
When someone is walking through serious illness, loss, or uncertainty, comfort matters. A handmade blanket cannot solve everything - but it can offer warmth, presence, and the quiet reminder that a community cares.
This mission brings local makers together to crochet individual granny squares and blanket panels, which are then joined into full blankets and gifted to neighbors in West Michigan (specifically Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana Counties) who need encouragement most.
No single person has to create an entire blanket. Each stitch, each square, each donation becomes part of something bigger than one pair of hands.
Warming Neighbors is built on compassion, collaboration, and the belief that handmade things carry meaning. It transforms leftover yarn and willing hearts into tangible comfort.
Because sometimes hope looks like a blanket. And sometimes love is stitched together by many.

❓ What is Warming Neighbors?
Warming Neighbors is a grassroots blanket mission through Why Knot Crochet that collects handmade granny squares and turns them into beautiful crochet blankets for neighbors walking through difficult seasons — illness, grief, hardship, or unexpected crisis.
