About Dawn & Chloe
Where Every Knot tells a Story

Our Mission

Hi, I'm Dawn, the heart behind Warming Neighbors and the founder of Why Knot Crochet. I've spent many years teaching, creating, and sharing the comfort that comes from handmade work-and I believe deeply in the power of crochet to bring warmth, calm, and connection.
But here's the honest truth: I can't do it alone.
No Matter how fast I crochet, no matter how many hours I give, I could never make enough blankets in my lifetime to meet the need that exists around us. The need is bigger than one pair of hands - and that's exactly why this project exists.
Warming Neighbors is built on a simple idea: If everyone who crochets took their leftover yarn - the scraps, the partial skeins, the "too-small-for-a-project" pieces - and turned them into a few squares, those small efforts could be joined together into something much bigger.
One square becomes part of a blanket. Many blankets become real warmth. And together, we can reach more neighbors than any one person ever could.
This isn't about perfection or pressure. It's about using what we already have, working at our own pace, and contributing to a shared purpose. When we create together, we can mass-produce comfort, multiply impact, and keep more neighbors warm -especially those in in-home care, adult foster care, or facing a serious illness.
I need your help.
Not because I can't crochet - but because community is how real change happens.
If you can make a square, share the mission, or help spread the word, you are part of this. And together, we can do far more than any of us could do alone.

The Girl & the Poodle Behind the Yarn
Hi, I’m Dawn 👋
I’m a crochet-loving, left-handed teacher with two different colored eyes (one blue, one brown), a serious respect for yarn, and a belief that every knot tells a story.
Why Knot Crochet was born out of a simple idea: crochet should feel welcoming, doable, and a little bit fun, especially if you’ve ever felt like patterns weren’t written for you (looking at my fellow lefties 👀).
I specialize in left-handed crochet instruction, beginner-friendly lessons, and helping people finally have that aha! moment where the yarn stops fighting back and starts behaving.
Enter Chloe 🐩
No about page would be complete without Chloe, my apricot toy poodle, studio supervisor, and unofficial Yarn Crime Investigator. She’s usually nearby—watching stitches very closely, judging tangled yarn silently, and reminding everyone to take breaks.
She prefers yarn over people and has very strong opinions about dropped stitches.
